Another Birthday

I started the day by watching the final episode of Produce 101 Season 2 and boy, was it a wrong move. I became stressed and more tired watching it. I really wish Samuel and Jonghyun will debut in Wanna One. The show ended at 2AM and I slept afterwards. I think I cried for a bit.

June 17, my day of all the days in the year. The day I am most excited for and give myself everything I want — my birthday.

I woke up around 6 in the morning and went back to sleep. I woke up half past eight and immediately went to the bathroom to take a bath — I had classes. I got downstairs to see my mom cooking Carbonara. I was running late, but I still ate. Nobody says no to pasta.

I left the house rather late and arrived in my class 20 minutes late. The professor seemed nice (although I can feel the guy will be strict once the lessons start) and motivated us.

We were dismissed at 12:30PM and my classmates greeted me. I bought them fries to somehow celebrate, although I really don’t do that on my birthday. I don’t have big celebrations and try to make the day as simple and normal as possible, although I always have a party by myself running through my mind the whole day. What irritated me after class was that a classmate kept on asking me to treat them to lunch. I was fuming.

After lunch, we went to the room for our next class and waited for a few minutes before the professor arrived. A little orientation and we were sent home. Sadly, my classmates wanted to stay for a while. I did get to take photos of the sky and plants, though, so I wasn’t too bored waiting for them.

I got up and headed home at 3:30. I went around the mall near my house for a while for the air condition. It’s badly hot in my place. I went to the kiosk with the used books and found this book at the top of everything else. I felt like I was meant to see and buy it, and eventually read it.
I decided to go home. While on my way, I saw this newly opened bakeshop a friend told me about and went inside. I looked for a cake and they offered a discounted cake. I was looking at a chocolate cake but decided to take the cake they were offering, thinking I can buy the chocolate one some other time. It was called Strawberry Surprise and my family loves it!

I arrived home and found only my brother and his classmates were in. I brought home quail eggs and ate it with them. I tried to sleep but couldn’t. My dad arrived an hour later and I was too upset to talk to him. I didn’t speak to anyone and didn’t get out of my room that evening.

I opened my cake a few minutes before midnight and lit and blew the candles by myself. It was nice, quiet and alone. It had a calming feeling. I spent the rest of the night playing the Kardashian game.

Oh, and I turned 21 that day. It wasn’t the best day and I was the reason why but being able to spend the day technically by myself, calmed me down. I enjoyed it. I’m also getting older. It seems unreal. I want to be able to have better and more productive days ahead.

I hope everyone is enjoying themselves and is having a nice day~

An Award in Korean Class

I enrolled to a Korean class last January and it ended last month, April. I was told by a friend that out of 25 students, only 5 of them were able to pass the course and it made me nervous.

Along with not wanting to fail, I was silently competitive. Korean language class removes my stress away and I wanted to do good in it. I did not tell anyone but I was trying to learn more than I should and tried to get high scores on our class activities so as to not fail the class.

Thankfully, all my hard work paid off. I passed the final exam in Korean class.

Although my only goal was to pass the class, on the 21st of April, a day before the graduation, I received a text saying that I was chosen as one of the best students in our class.

Korean Language Class

This has long been in my drafts. It would be it’s first anniversary in June. I have to publish this.

I never got to write about it, but I enrolled to a Korean language class in the Korean Cultural Center of the Philippines last May 2016. I tried out the Basic Korean first, as it’s always best to start with the basics.

It was okay at first, I knew hangeul and I already had it memorized. My only problem was the pronunciation. When our teacher taught us the pronunciation, it was like the light has shined upon me. What I thought for years as ‘right’ was wrong all along. Most of the Hangeul I knew were pronounced differently than how I used to pronounce it. It felt good to finally understand the difference of (o), and ㅓ(eo) as well a few other vowels I have been pronouncing incorrectly.

We talked about it in three sessions and then continued on to the common conversations and the grammar. It was fun, until we had too many vocabularies to memorize and sentence structures to follow. It became harder every session and, because I was still in school, it was harder to follow everything. I was tired most of the time and had more than Korean language to study.

But I wanted this so I did not give it up.

I had a hard time with listening to the CDs. Our teacher then played the CDs and let us answer the questions on the book. It seemed easy when you know the words, but as the lessons went by, they kept adding vocabularies we did not study — or I forgot. We had to translate what the voices on the CD said and I hated it every single time. It was hard, but I was thankful to have a lovely seatmate who always helped me with them.

I was able to survive the twelve sessions we had, a total of 36 hours. We had our graduation on the 20th of August and I was half an hour late to the graduation if I correctly remember. It was sad because we prepared a video and I was unable to watch it. We did win 2nd place to the video presentation/competition and won a 3000-peso worth of gift certificate to a Korean restaurant.

We were given a certificate and had our photos taken. We ate after the graduation ceremony. It was nice. The food was delicious and I had a good time with my classmates. We became closer.

Overall, it was hard but definitely fun. I had a hard time with the classes as I had school from morning to evening from Mondays to Fridays and Korean language class every Saturday morning but I was able to graduate. I learned a lot with teacher Kim and I thank her for teaching us a lot about Korea aside from just the language.

Today, I am able to understand a few sentences that I hear from Korean shows. I still have a lot to learn, vocabularies to memorize, sentence structures to permanently put in my head (their particles kills me).

If you can try learning another language out, I recommend doing so. It feels great to be able to learn and study another language and it feels like there’s a kind of connection to the country when doing so.

Haven’t Had Enough

— Sleep, that’s what.

Today’s the start of the midterm exam week.

I haven’t been able to post much since July and I haven’t exactly had enough sleep. I know I’ve been procrastinating, too, and I have two exams tomorrow yet I am still writing but I haven’t had enough sleep for the past couple of months. Even if I slept at an earlier hour, I’d most probably wake up at 2 in the morning (which is creepy when it happens consecutive times).

What else have I been doing for the past few weeks? I haven’t continued watching Conan and I’m stuck at episode 296. I wish I could get to the latest episode soon. I also hope I could buy the manga available in English.

Recently, I have gotten into collecting again. I feel like it’s really part of who I am. lol I’m going to buy the limited edition stuff I want then save the normal ones for when I get to Korea and hopefully soon, Japan.

I will be passing my application form for the Media Ministry to the local church tomorrow. More work, but I want to serve God.

I got a few penpals recently as well. I have yet to send the letters, but I hope I can send them soon. They’re probably already waiting.

It has been the most tiring semester so far. The Korean class I attended added to the exhaustion, but I enjoyed it so I don’t want to think about it that much. ><

I also want to say that it’s probably been the semester that I have spent so much. I’ve been trying out different food and hanging out with different groups of people who like food. I can’t stop myself from eating because I was told that if it’s food, spend as much money as you can as long as you want to eat. Kinda good, kinda not.

I’ll do my best in my exams and for the last few weeks of the semester. I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my CISCO, Advanced Engineering Mathematics, Electronics, and Circuits. They’ve made me cry several times this semester already. But I can’t fail any of the classes I’m enrolled to or I have to say good bye to the 2 week vacation in Korea I am planning. Lol. Also, I’ll be doing it for my future, but mainly for Korea 2017.

My Saturday this week is free so hopefully, I’ll be able to publish the stuff that’s been accumulating dust in my drafts.

I hope everyone takes care! Bye~

End of July, Start of August

My End of July

The last week of July has been one of the greatest weeks of my 2016! I had a lot of fun with classmates and a few other people.

Around midweek, I was offered an extra ticket to Bangtan Boys’ Epilogue in Manila. It was given to me at a discounted price, so I bought it immediately. The Friday of the week, I ate with a few classmates at Mang Inasal. It was fun. I also met another ate. We got immediately close.

By Saturday, I had my weekly Korean language class. The sessions were always fun and I do learn a lot. I wish I could continue to Elementary 1 next semester.

Saturday was also the day of BTS’ concert and I arrived at the venue past 1PM. I met up with my classmates. We went around the venue and ate at Jollibee. I met up with another one around 4:30PM and lined up by 5PM. BTS’ concert was one great experience.

After the concert, I met up with teamwaffles’ maknae, Pam. I’ve known her for two years and I finally met our baby. It was really nice to meet you, Pam! I love you.

Selena Gomez’ concert was scheduled the next day. It was a regular day for most of the day. I left the house an hour after I went to church. I was alone during the concert but I met two ate’s while I was there. I’m becoming friendlier! Lol. I finally met my childhood idol. I cried lots but did enjoy it as well. I also can check off the ‘Go to a concert’ on my list of things I want to do alone.

As I was alone during Sel’s concert, I waited until around half past 6 inside Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I wrote a poem while waiting! It was awesome. I’ll be posting about it tonight as well.

My Start of August

August 1st was great as well. I was late for my first class and couldn’t go to class, but I went home with a box of donuts! I’ve been thinking about buying BTS’ new photo book: Summer in Dubai.

August 2nd was okay. It was stressful and sad, but I’m okay. I might not be able to go to Korea by January 2017, unlike planned.

August 3rd, I watched the Conan movie!! It was a less stressful day. I bought cupcakes as well.

August 5th will be Girls’ Generation’s 9th debut anniversary. I’m so proud of my girls.

I decided on collecting again. To other people, it might be a waste of money, but to me, it’s what makes me happy. I’ll be buying less impulsively, though! I promise! ❤

The rest of August might be great. Lots of Korean Pop groups are coming back and I can’t wait!

*Will be updating this tonight. It’s 1:33 AM and I can’t really think that straight but I’ll be publishing this now.

School Started

Hello!

I am so tired. School only started today and I already feel exhausted.

I met a Seventeen fan today and had a lot of fun. I met my block mates again after a few months. I played Uno with Trixia and Derrick. I won a few times. Thrice consecutively. Hehe. I will write when I don’t feel tired. I have 14 drafts again! And I will be writing a few new ones.

I want to write a poem. I want to sleep.

Beagles Fan Shoppe is doing well, by the way.

I hope everyone is doing great! Take care guys!

English and How To Improve It

This was a speech I wrote for a contest back when I was in high school. Posted a blog about my experience. Here goes nothing:

We all that English is a language used by many countries around the globe. Our country, the Philippines, is one of those. We consider it as our second language and therefore, as Filipino citizens, we should be able to know and use English well. So how do we improve it? How can we be able to use English well?

One way of improving English is by giving importance to it and finding time to study it. That is the reason why we have it as one of the major subjects in school. But just because we only have almost an hour in studying English doesn’t mean that’s the only time we should study it. Studying doesn’t end in school and knowledge does not stop after graduation.

Another way is by using the language itself in communicating with other people. We do learn by experience. We could learn a lot just by speaking to other people or maybe in the internet.  We could chat with people around the globe.

By taking down notes about English, we could also learn the language. We could reread it when we get confused or puzzled. And also when we hear or read a word or a phrase we do not know, we should note it so that we could gain knowledge, more knowledge about English.

There are probably a lot more ways on how to gain more knowledge about English, on how we can improve it. We all should know how important it is to us, and be able to understand what it means to communicate to everyone in the world.
